Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, and 834. It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of February already. 634, you will be continuing to research your school issue, focusing on plausible solutions. 734, you will be doing research on your national issue. 834, you will be exploring the historical event that you will choose for your historical fiction story, as well as continuing to read in the historical fiction book you were given. This will be a busy week for all. In addition to continuing in your genre studies, you will all be taking the second Periodic Assessment this week in ELA. Also, parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for this Thursday 2/28. Homework is as follows:

634: Revise and edit draft#2. Rewrite draft #3 on loose leaf.
734: Continue using the 10 Star method to take notes on your research. Read in your independent book.

834: Read on in your historical fiction book - per pacing calendar. Reread Roots excerpt, and list at least 5 traditions and lifestyle details for The Gambia in the 1750's.

It is hard to believe that we are already in the middle of February. 634, you are beginning to research information to support your position on your issue for your persuasive writing. 734, you have begun your executive summary genre study, which is also an example of persuasive writing. 834, you have begun to explore the historical fiction genre study. Homework is as follows:

634: Continue to read your research. Highlight details you plan to use to support your position.Rewrite your explanation of the problem on loose leaf.
734: Complete your brainstorming list of Ridgewood issues.Write one quick write on a local issue.
834:In writer's source book, make an entry entitled : "Events in History that Interest Me" (Include Place, time, and event.).

734: Complete your thesis statement for your issue. Brainstorm for reasons your issue is a problem.
834: Continue to read your historical fiction book, per pacing calendar. Write questions and/or interesting details on post-its to discuss in your group.

734: Begin to research information pertaining to your national issue. Bring in your research to school. Read your independent reading book.

634: Finish reading the pros and cons of the assigned issue. In your Reader's Source Book, complete the entry by putting at least 2 pros and 2 cons for the issue you read about. Also, make sure you have your revised introduction for your particular issue on loose leaf.
734: Continue working on your nonfiction book. Books are due this Friday, 2/8/08!
