Week of 9/25/06
Greetings students of Classes 634, 734, & 834. It is hard to believe we are already into the last week of September. 634, we are drafting and revising our own narrative accounts. 734, we have finished reading Novio Boy and are continuing to analyze more of Gary Soto's work. 834, we are reading more of Walter Dean Myers and are answering constructed and extended responses based on his works.

834 -Read for 20+ minutes. Make an entry in your IRL. In Reader's Sourcebook, in the WDM Table of Contents, make an entry entitled:"Analyzing "Kitty and Mack: A Love Story." Be a philosopher, a psychologist (for both Kitty and Mack), a reverberator, and a set designer.

Complete 'dialogue test' on worksheet. (By the way, 634 I really enjoyed reading your comments today. Michael, I too get inspired by the things I read, and I am so glad ELA has inspired you. Nathalie, you don't have to wait to become a teacher to create your own blog. Talk to a computer teacher about that. Mariah, I am glad that you are enjoying ELA so far. We have begun to present our writing genre prompts for "The Jacket," by applying the rituals & routines for Author's Chair presentations. 734 & 834, we are well into our Author Study units - with 734 studying Gary Soto, and 834 studying Walter Dean Myers. Week of 9/11/06
Greetings students of Class 634, 734, & 834. We remember the heroes of 9/11 this week, as we begin our genre studies. 634, we have begun to read and analyze Gary Soto's "The Jacket." 734, we will begin our Gary Soto author study. 834, we will begin our Walter Dean Myers author study.
