Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, and 834. The first marking period will be coming to an end in a few weeks, and we are well into our genre studies. 634, you have been reading and analyzing short stories, and finding 'big ideas' and theme statements that the author is trying to convey. 734, you are reading and analyzing the work of Gary Soto. 834, you are reading and analyzing the work of Walter Dean Myers. Homework is as follows:

734: Read on in your Gary Soto book, per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL. Complete the literary letter on Novio Boy in your Reader's Source Book.

634: In your Reader's Source Book, write a paragraph about the main character in
your independent reading book. You may use the mind mirror as a source for ideas.
734: Complete your Gary Soto book by Monday. Make an entry in your IRL for each chapter.
834: Review and/or complete your WDM book by Monday. Catch up on your IRL entries.

634: Correct the selected passage in your reading packet. Put a star next to the items that tapped into your reading goal.On loose leaf, write the 'big idea' and the theme statement for it. In your Writing Task Packet, write a topic sentence for each 'big idea' in the short story you were given.
734: Complete your IRL's for your Gary Soto packet.
834: Complete your IRl's for your WDM book. Correct the items you had wrong on your DYO's. Put a star next to the items that tapped into your reading goal.
