Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, & 834. This week as we usher April in, we are well into our genre studies. 634, you will be reading about the Iditarod in Woodsong this week, and beginning your second Gary Paulsen independent book. 734, you will complete and present your Executive Summary. 834, you will continue to work on your own historical fiction story, as well as reading your historical fiction novel. Homework is as follows:

April 4, 2008
634: In Reader's Source Book, write a "Reporter's " summary of Woodsong.
734: Bring in completed final draft of Executive Summary. Complete cover sheet questions in your packet.
834: Final historical fiction story due. Be prepared to present it in class on "author's chair."
April 3,2008
634: Write a "seer's" entry in your Reader's Source Book, by making a prediction for days 9 - 17 in the Iditarod.
734: Revise,edit, and rewrite your "Introduction," "Issue," and "Discussion" componenets of your executive summary on loose leaf.
834: Revise and edit Draft#3 of your historical fiction story, using a different colored pen.
April 2, 2008
634: Review your Paulsen book for test tomorrow. Complete entries in your source books, including literary letter.
734: Continue your exectuive summary. Final due on Monday 4/7/08.
834:Continue working on your historical fiction story. Read on in your historical fiction book #2 per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL.
April 1, 2008
634: Review/ complete your Paulsen book. You should have a literary letter in your RSB for your Paulsen book - as well as an entry in your Annotated Bibliography. Paulsen book test on Thursday 4/3/08.
734:Continue to work on your Executive Summary. Final draft due Monday, 4/7/08.
834: Have draft #2 completed on loose leaf.

Our genre studies continue. 634, you are continuing to read and analyze the works of Gary Paulsen. 734, you have completed your polling report, and will begin to draft your executive summary on your issue. 834, you are continuing to draft your historical fiction stories, as you begin to read your second (or third) historical fiction novel. Homework is as follows:

634: Write a literary letter on your Paulsen book if you haven't already done so. Review/finish your Paulsen book. You will get a test on your Paulsen book next week.

Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, & 834. It is hard to believe we only have 2 more weeks before the end of the third marking period. Our genre studies continue in full force! 634, you are continuing to read and analyze the works of Gary Paulsen. 734, you will begin to translate the results of your survey into a chart or graph for your polling report. 834, you have begun to write your historical fiction, mimicking the journey cycle of your character to America. Homework is as follows:

634: Read your Paulsen book per pacing calendar. Make an entry for each chapter you read in your IRL.
734: Final polling report due on Monday.
834: In Writer's Source Book, make an entry entitled: "My writing technique." Do a quick write on the writing technique you think you will use for your historical fiction story. Continue drafting your story in your writer's source book, making necessary revisions to accomodate your chosen writing technique.

Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, and 834. It is hard to believe that it is already March. This school year is certainly moving quickly as we continue on with our genre studies. 634, you are finishing up your persuasive essays this week, and will begin your next author study on Gary Paulsen. 734, you will be reading and analyzing nonfiction pieces, as well as continuing your executive summary research.834, you will continue to read your historical fiction books, as well as begin to research for authentic details for the historical fiction story you will be writing. Additionally, round 2 of the DRA will begin this week for all classes. Homework is as follows:
Friday 3/7/08
634: Complete entries in reader's source book: Visualizing Chapter 1 in Woodsong, "Wrong or Right Sentence", Noticings_______________ (Title of Paulsen book).
734: Bring in 3 polling reports on Monday. In writer's source book, write 3 forced choice questions, 3 rank order questions, and 3 open ended questions.
