Week of December 17, 2007

Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, & 834. It is the last week of school before the December break, and we are immersed in our Test Prep Unit as well as our regular genre studies. 634, you will complete your Literary Letter on Katherine Paterson this week. Additionally, you will continue to apply the strategies we've learned on various practice tests. 734, you are doing research for your nonfiction book, as well as practicing the ELA test strategies we've been working on. 834, you are doing research for your journalistic feature article, as well as applying the strategies we've been practicing. Homework is as follows:

734: Complete the first 3 selections in March 2004 packet. Write answer on loose leaf.
834: Correct December 2005 packet.

734: Finish Practice Test -Grade 7 packet.
834: Finish the December 2005 Packet.
12/17/07

634: Revise, edit and rewrite Draft #2 of your Literary Letter on loose leaf. Correct your errors on the Grade 6 ELAP Plus booklet on loose leaf.
734: Correct your errors on the Grade 7 ELAP Plus booklet. Write what kind of question you missed next to the correction ( vocabulary, main idea, etc.). Also, complete the first 2 stories in the Grade 7 Practice booklet. Write your answers on loose leaf - NOT in the booklet.
834: Correct your errors on the Grade 8 October 2005 booklet, and mark the kind of question you missed. (vocabulary, main idea, sequence, etc.) Also, complete the first story in your Grade 8 December 2005 booklet. Write your answers on loose leaf - NOT in the booklet.

Week of 12/10/07

Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, & 834. We are already in the middle of December and are well into our genre studies. 634, you will begin your Response to Literature for your Katherine Paterson Author Study. 734, you are continuing your research for your Children's Nonfiction book. 834, you are continuing your research for your Journalistic Feature Article. Additionally, all classes will be doing Test Prep activities in preparation for the ELA test in January. Homework is as follows:

12/14/07
634: Complete literary letter on loose leaf. Finish reading packet ON loose leaf. Also, correct the ones you had wrong for the first few selections.
734: Complete reading packet. Do not write in book. On looseleaf, number 1 - 28 and write the answers only. Coninue research for your nonfiction book.
834: Complete reading packet on loose leaf. (Write number & answer only.) Continue research for your JFA.
12/13/07
634: Complete literary letter on KP in WSB. (Revise, rewrite on loose leaf for MONDAY 12/17/07.) Study second half of your KP book. Test tomorrow.
734: Complete reading packet. Do editing packet #2. Continue your research for nonfiction book.
834: Correct errors in reading packet. Complete packet! Make note of evidence for correct answer on looseleaf. Continue research for your JFA.
12/12/07

634: Complete packet through Page 11. Make sure you have 2 completed summaries in your WSB- one for
B to T and one for your KP independent book. Make sure you understand the end of your KP book. Test on Friday.
734: Homework #1 in editing packet. Continue research for your nonfiction book.
834: Complete reading packet. Continue research for your JFA.

634: In your WSB, write a summary of your second Katherine Paterson book using the story map you completed in class. Be prepared for test on your independent KP book, this Friday. Be sure you understand what happens to the main character by the end of the book. How is the character's conflict resolved. How does the main character change by the end of the book?
734: Continue your research for your nonfiction book. Complete pages 7 -11 in your reading packet.
834: Continue your research for your JFA.

634: Revise and edit your constructed response in your Writer's Source Book.
734: Continue to research and take notes for your nonfiction book.
834: Continue to research and take notes on your journalistic feature article.

Week of December 3, 2007

Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, and 834. We are well into our genre studies as we usher in December. 634, you will be finishing Bridge to Terabithia and your independent Katherine Paterson book.
You will begin to plan your Response to Literature for the Katherine Paterson Author Study. 734, you are continuing your research for your Children's Nonfiction book. You are also reading and analyzing nonfiction excerpts in terms of text structures. 834, you are doing research for your Journalistic Feature Article, and reading and analyzing a variety of feature articles.
Homework is as follows:

12/7/07
634: Finish your KP book per pacing calendar. Add your second KP book in your Annotated Bibliography.
734: Continue your research for your topic.
834: Finish Part II of your JFA test. Continue your research for your JFA.
12/6/07

634: Read on in your KP book; make an entry in your IRL or SWBS chart. In your WSB, write a summary of Bridge to Terabithia using the story map you completed in class. Your entry should be : B to T Summary," in the Katherine Paterson Table of Contents.
734: Modify your topic outline in your WSB. Your entry should be "Revised Outline" in your "All About Nonfiction" Table of Contents. Continue to research and take notes on your topic.
834: Review "The Sultan of Slime" article. In your RSB, make an entry entitled: "Sources of Information Used in 'The Sultan of Slime.' Review article for test tomorrow.

12/5/07
634: Summarize Bridge to Terabithia in your "Annotated Bibliography" in your RSB. Read on in your KP book per pacing calendar.Make an entry in your IRL or SWBS chart.
734: Continue to research, take notes and paraphrase for your Nonfiction Children's book.

634: Read on in your KP book, per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL or SWBS charts. Revise and rewrite your constructed response on Jess and Leslie on loose leaf. Have your homework letters signed by a parent.
734: Continue research on topic. Bring in notes on your topic.
834: Complete your test on "6 Questions" article interviewing J.K. Rowling. Continue your research on your topic.
