Week of 5/7/07

Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, and 834. You are all well into your Author Studies. 634, you have finished reading Woodsong, The Crossing, and at least two other Paulsen books. You are now ready to begin work on your Gary Paulsen Response to Literature. 734, you have begun to read your Virginia Hamilton books, making note of her recurring themes, and writing styles. 834, you are continuing to read and analyze the works of Ray Bradbury. Homework is as follows:

5/11/07
634: Revise and edit paragraphs 3 & 4 in RSB. Rewrite first draft on loose leaf.
734: Read Chapters 6-8 in VH book. Make an entry in your IRL for each chapter.
834: Read Chapters 2-4 in your Ray Bradbury book. Make an entry in your IRL.
5/10/07

634: Revise and edit Paragraph #2 for your G. Paulsen Response to Literature in your RSB.
734: Read CHapter 5 in your VH book. Make an entry in your IRL.
834: Read Chapter 1 in your Ray Bradbury book. Make an entry in your IRL.
5/9/07

634: Revise and edit your introductory paragraph for your Gary Paulsen Response to Literature in your RSB.
734: Read Chapter 4 in your VH book. Be a 'Reporter' in your RSB.
834: Make a journal entry as if you were Margot or William in "All in A Summer Day,"
on page 32 of your Ray Bradbury packet.
5/8/07
634: In RSB, finish your Constructed Response paragraph on how Sergeant Locke changed by the end of The Crossing .
734: In your RSB, write a literary letter on your VH book. Make sure you include what part you are up to. (You should have read at least through Chapter 3.) Make a prediction.
834: Revise your paragraph on which character Ray Bradbury probably admires the most - Lespere or Hollis- in "Kaleidoscope."

634: Write a paragraph in your Reader's Source Book, describing the conflicts in three Gary Paulsen books you've read.
734: Read Chapter 3 in your VH book. Make an entry in your IRL.
834: Read 'S is For Space' -introduction by Ray Bradbury, in your packet. Complete the pie chart at the end of the selection, filling the percentages for those influences Bradbury makes note of. Also, in your RSB, make an entry explaining his philosophy on life, based on what you read.
