Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, and 834. It is hard to believe that it is already March. This school year is certainly moving quickly as we continue on with our genre studies. 634, you are finishing up your persuasive essays this week, and will begin your next author study on Gary Paulsen. 734, you will be reading and analyzing nonfiction pieces, as well as continuing your executive summary research.834, you will continue to read your historical fiction books, as well as begin to research for authentic details for the historical fiction story you will be writing. Additionally, round 2 of the DRA will begin this week for all classes. Homework is as follows:
Friday 3/7/08
634: Complete entries in reader's source book: Visualizing Chapter 1 in Woodsong, "Wrong or Right Sentence", Noticings_______________ (Title of Paulsen book).
734: Bring in 3 polling reports on Monday. In writer's source book, write 3 forced choice questions, 3 rank order questions, and 3 open ended questions.
834: Review your historical fiction book. Complete the researched and imagined details in "The Voices of the Field."

Thursday, 3/6/08
634: Finish your letter to Gary Paulsen asking him questions based on his bio, in your writer's source book.
734: Collect 3 polling reports from newspapers, magazines, or the internet by Monday.
834:Complete your historical fiction book, per pacing calendar.Make your entries in your IRL. COntinue researching for authentic details for your historical fiction book.

634: In Reader's Source Book complete "Gary Paulsen Noticings" by writing at least 5 interesting facts you learned about Gary Paulsen after reading the handout.
734:Read the other side of your persuasive article. Make another entry in your Reader's Source Book "Debate on _________________" and write the opinion and support for the opposing point of view for the debate you read in class.
834: Continue reading your historical fiction book, per pacing calendar. make an entry in your IRL.

634:Read on in your independent reading book. Make an entry in your IRL.
734:Continue research.Use the 10 Star Method to take notes on your research. (You should have at least 3 separate entries for the 10 Star Method at this time.)
834: Continue reading your historical fiction book. Make an entry in your IRL. Complete character fact sheet for your character.
Monday, 3/3/08
634: Final persuasive essay is due in letter format. Be prepared to share it on Author's Chair.
734:Read your independent book. Bring in research for your issue.Finish your problem/solution essay in your writer's source book.
834:Read your historical fiction book. Make an entry in your IRL. Your book must be finished by Friday.

    Miss varga i wanted to if when i write the ranked orderd questions is it each line is 1 ? or all directions is 1 ?
