Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, and 834. Spring is here and we are approaching the end of the third marking period. Our genre studies continue. 634, you are continuing to read and analyze the works of Gary Paulsen. 734, you have completed your polling report, and will begin to draft your executive summary on your issue. 834, you are continuing to draft your historical fiction stories, as you begin to read your second (or third) historical fiction novel. Homework is as follows:

Friday 3/28/08
634: Write a literary letter on your Paulsen book if you haven't already done so. Review/finish your Paulsen book. You will get a test on your Paulsen book next week.
Hatchet group - finish book!
734:Finish first draft of your executive summary in your writer's source book.
834: Finish first draft of your historical fiction story in your writer's source book.
Thursday 3/27/08
634:Review your Paulsen book. Write a literary letter in your Reader's Source Book for Nightjohn or Danger on Midnight River. Hatchet group finish book by Monday.
734: Complete entry about your issue in Writer's Source Book. Research who your Executive Summary should be addressed to. Write a paragraph stating why this person would be effective.
834:Complete your historical fiction worksheet.
Wednesday 3/26/08
634: Read your Paulsen book per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL. For extra credit, you may write a literary letter in your reader's Source Book, if you have finished your Paulsen book.
734:Rewrite your "quick write" into the following separate subtopics: seriousness of problem, causes, solutions/ benefits
834: Continue reading your historical fiction book #2 - per pacing calendar.Make an entry in your IRL.
Tuesday 3/25/08
634: Continue reading in your Paulsen book per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL. Use post-its to summarize main events as you read.
734: Complete the analysis of Executive Summary #2. Paraphrase the conclusion. If you haven't already done so, bring in your polling report. It will not be accepted after tomorrow.
834: Complete the first few steps of The Lion King's journey on the "Journey Cycle" chart.

Monday 3/24/08
634: Continue reading your Paulsen book - per pacing calendar. Make an entry in your IRL. If you did not complete your "Reporter's" exit slips, please do so at home.
734: Correct your Periodic Assessment multiple choice questions. Submit your polling report if you haven't already done so.
834:Continue drafting your historical fiction story. Focus on the 'call' and the 'threshold.' Begin reading your second historical fiction book.
