Week of January 14th

Greetings all you girls & guys in 634, 734, & 834. The NYS ELA tests are being taken this week. You will be applying the various reading and writing strategies that we have been practicing. Our focus will shift back to the genre studies by the end of the week. Homework is as follows:

Friday 1/18/08

634: In Writer's Source Book, write about a time you tried to persuade someone to do something. What did you want? How did you try to persuade them? Read in your independent book.

734: Continue to research for your nonfiction book. Paraphrase your notes in your WSB. Read in your independent book.

834: Revise, edit, and rewrite your proposal letter for your JFA on loose leaf. read in your independent book.

Thursday 1/17/08

634: Read in your independent book. Make an entry in your 'Annotated Bibliography' for any book you have completed. (You should be up to your 12th book - so catch up!) Also, think about a time you tried to persuade a parent, teacher, or friend to do something. Be prepared to talk about it in class.

734: Complete paraphrasing your research in your Writer's Source Book.

834: Continue research on your JFA. Revise and edit your proposal letter in your WSB.

Wednesday 1/16/08
634: Rest up for Day 3 of ELA Test.
734: Complete your children's nonfiction book planning page. Continue your research.
834: Complete planning page for your JFA. Continue your research.
Tuesday 1/15/08

634, 734, & 834: Go to bed early. Eat a healthy breakfast. Bring #2 pencils with good erasers.

    Hi Michelle. I think you chose to write a book on the 4 seasons. What do you want to do your book on now? If your new topic is appropriate, and you still want to change your topic at this late date, you may do so, but only if you catch up on the research and the paraphrasing. Let me know what you decide.
