Week of February 5, 2007
Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, and 834. This week, we will all be taking the Third Periodic Assessment ELA exams. Additionally we will be moving ahead in our genre studies. 634, you will be compiling questions in preparation for conducting interviews or surveys on your issue, for your persuasive essay. 734, you will be revising and editing your nonfiction drafts which you will prepare for 'publication.' 834, you are 'texturing' your Journalistic Feature Writing with expository, narrative, and descriptive components. Ms. Ostapak is still out of the building grading ELA tests, and we do miss her! Homework is as follows:
2/9/07
634: Using your research, begin to draft the body of your proposal by paraphrasing at least
five of your highlighted facts or details.
734: Draft #3 of your nonfiction book is due Monday. Include introduction, subtopics and their 'signals', conlusions and appendixes.
834: Revise Draft # of your JFA, following your layout plan.

634: Revise introduction to your persuasive essay on loose leaf.
734: Revise your Children's Nonfiction Book ending on loose leaf.
834: Revise JFA introduction and conclusion on loose leaf.
2/7/07
634: Begin to conduct your interview or survey. Write your questions and answers down on loose leaf paper.
734: Draft all your appendices as they will appear in your book, on loose leaf. (Table of Contents, Glossary, Bibliography, etc.)
834: Revise your lead and introduction. Add a description and a narration to your JFA. (Draft #2 is past due!)

634: Highlight important details in your research for your Persuasuve Essay.
734: Bring in at least two visual aids (graphics) for your nonfiction book.
834: Begin Draft #2 of your JFA by writing it in the layout you planned. Write the title, the lead, and the introduction as it would appear in the magazine.

634: Continue researching your issue.
734: Complete "Draft #2" of your children's nonfiction book on loose leaf.
834: Revise your Journalistic Feature Article on loose leaf.
