Week of 2/12/07
Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, & 834. The middle of February is upon us and so much is going on! This week, report cards will be handed out, and Parent-Teacher conferences will be held. We are also finishing up our genre studies. 634, you will begin writing your Persuasive Essay drafts for your issue. 734, you will finish your Children's Nonfiction book this week. 834, you will be finishing your Journalistic Feature Article this week. We will be paraphrasing, revising, editing, and publishing. It should be an exciting week. We still miss Ms. Ostapak, who is still out of the building, grading ELA tests - however she will be reading your pieces as well! Homework is as follows:
2/16/07
634: Write Draft# 2 of your proposal. Do ELAP packet. Use the answer sheet.
734: ELAP packet. Use answer sheet. Read 2 newspaper articles about a problem in NYC and summarize.
834: ELAP packet. Use answer sheet to answer questions. Read an independent book and summarize in your Annotated Bibliography.
2/15/07
634: Revise your conclusion on loose leaf.
734:Nonfiction book past due. Read your independent book. Make an entry in IRL.
834: JFA past due! read your independent book. Make an entry in your IRL.
2/14/07
634: On loose leaf, explain who you are addressing your persuasive proposal to and why you chose to write to that person.
734: Your final nonfiction draft is due! Be prepared to share it in class.
834: Your final JFA is due! Be prepared to share it in class.
2/13/07
634: Check yesterday's homework; we did not meet today.
734: Nonfiction children's book FINAL draft due Thursday, 2/15/07.
834: FINAL JFA draft due Thursday 2/15/07.
2/12/07
634: Draft #1 of your Persuasive Essay is due on loose leaf. It should include: an introduction, explanation of your problem - including your paraphrased research, and an explanation of your solution - including your counterargument.
734: Continue working on your Children's Nonfiction book. Final copy is due Thursday, February 15th.
834: Continue working on your Journalistic Feature Article. Final copy is due Thursday, February 15th.
