Greetings all you girls and guys in 634, 734, & 834. We have a full week of school before the Christmas Vacation. This week, we will be reading and analyzing poetry. We will use reading strategies to better understand poetry, and we will see how the use of figurative language enhances poems. Homework is as follows:

Get a head start on your vacation packet. Return signed Assessment Reports.
734: Study poetry packet and charts in your Reader's Source Book for poetry test tomorrow.
Get a head start on your vacation packets.
834: Study poetry packet and charts in Reader's Source Book. Poetry test tomorrow. Complete the Grade 8 Packet over the vacation. Continue working on the nonfiction packet. Complete at least up to the "Orangutang" selection.

634: On loose leaf, write a paragraph comparing the Speaker's feeling towards Aunt Fatima in the poem "Aunt Fatima," to the Speaker's feeling towards Mama, in "Mama is a Sunrise."
734: Packet #17
834: Packet #4. In Writer's Source Book, finish response explaining the Speaker's view and advice on life, in Langston Hughes' poem "Mother to Son." Use details from the poem to support your answer.
